The year 2018 is coming to an end, but KnightsBridge is still facing several surprises. The latest: no less than five nominations for the 36th Domus Awards, including the one for Builder of the Year! Once again, KnightsBridge stands proudly in front of its peers and has the honor of being recognized as a leader in its field.
A sustainable development hat-trick for Le Jardinier
After winning the Inova award for the multi-residential building with construction costs under $50 million this fall, Le Jardinier captivates, yet again! With its LEED Platinum certification, its affordability and its very special incorporation within the unique Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighborhood, the project is now being nominated for the rental housing or condominium unit between $250,000 and $500,000 of the year. Le Jardinier fully embodies KnightsBridge's multi-dimensional vision of sustainable development, both environmentally, in terms of the construction itself, as well as socially and economically. It is in this spirit that KnightsBridge's Nature Series was launched with Le Jardinier and now also includes Le Barista in Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie.
Elää, dare to innovate
Another project used to awards, Elää once again gets a burst of love! KnightsBridge's boldness is felt throughout the project. An ingenious design where the lot is occupied by different fragments of construction, rather than by a single block, thus creating an intimate inner courtyard with alleys inhabited by vines. Each of the units, therefore, benefits from a facade towards their neighborhood, and another one on their enchanting courtyard. The carbonized cedar cladding is durable, biodegradable and - no need to lie to you - absolutely superb. Combined with the fact that the project is ready to accommodate solar panels, making Elää one of the few homes with Net-Zero Ready certification. With such a project, it goes without saying that KnightsBridge's presence among the finalists in 3 categories - rental housing or condominium unit between $500,000 and $1,000,000, project of 4 floors or less of the year, and sustainable development - is an earned honor.
When vision meets effort
While Le Jardinier and Elää leave their mark on the housing market in Quebec and Canada, KnightsBridge shines as never before. It is a concern for sustainable development, the vision of a future for which we must work hard, and the awareness of the impact we can have on our city that motivated Simon Boyer, president of KnightsBridge, to develop this company. It is, therefore, a source of great pride to be among the finalists in the Sustainable Development and Builder of the Year categories. Two elements that, at KnightsBridge, go hand in hand.
The Domus Awards ceremony, hosted by Saskia Thuot, will take place on March 19, 2019, at the Casino de Montréal. Everyone get ready to dress to the nines and let's celebrate the world of construction and housing in Quebec. Good luck to all the finalists!
